It’s sheer madness opening a Patreon to such a teeny tiny social media following, I do know that, however there is method to my madness. Being the natural born ‘fraidy cat that I am, overly concerned with fear of being irrelevant, I’ve decided to go all Field of Dreams on this project… if I build it, they will come.
As there are so many unknowns at the start of this project, it feels very acceptable to allow myself to ease into it and learn as I go. I need to develop my teaching style, figure out how to talk to the camera without wanting to peel my skin off as well as figuring out what my Patrons actually want from me (yes; that’s an invite to reach out and tell me what you’d like).
At the mo, I have two tiers which are Berry Buddies and Coffee Beans. In simple terms, the Coffee Beans tier is a tip jar for people to pay a small amount if they just want to show appreciation (in the form of an iced oat latte!).
Berry Buddies is the tier where you get exclusive art tutorials, videos shown nowhere else, art chatter, material reviews, and genuine companionship from fellow arty peeps. Well, that’s what I’d like to see it grow into in the fullness of time - we are a select group of 5 members right now!
This month we are focussing on light and shade; and I’ll show you how to paint this joyful little sparrow in just the one watercolour. It’s a great intro into the medium as you focus on contrast and don’t have to get stressed with colour theory. Plus look at the results you can achieve:

Also, during the first two weeks of September, I’m challenging myself (and anyone else who wants to) to draw everyday for 14 days. I’ve created my own prompt list aiming to get me skilled up with different media but mostly to enjoy being creative and playing every single day. Read the blog post on my website here (tap the photo to read):
I’m 7 days in now and you can see my daily posts over on Instagram. I’ll be sharing high res scans of the art once I’m finished with the challenge over on my Patreon.
If you need more persuasion to give me and my Patreon a go, it’s free for the first 7 days and costs only $7 per month after that. You can come and go as you please, but of course, I’d be delighted for you to stay a while. I’ve got plans for a whole lot more content and perks to add to the tiers including livestreams, zoom paint along, physical rewards and original mini art works so we wil only be growing from here on in.
Have a colourful, playful week. What will you be creating today?
